Erasmus CTRL+N: Hard Reset
a learning innovation festival
May 30 - June 3, 2022

Hard resets require soft landings: In the 2022 edition of Erasmus CTRL+N we answer to the desperate need to radically rethink the social dimensions of learning. We (re)introduce analogue ideas on what, how and where we need to learn for a better tomorrow.

40 International students with varying academic backgrounds invite you to experience their answers in 10 Teach-Ins: experimental masterclasses in which you dissect and make sense of complex sustainability topics, blended with innovative learning methods.

CTRL+N is an annual learning innovation festival that shows what happens when you give students creative autonomy in designing learning experiences they believe future generations need. They will slow you down and fire you up. They will challenge traditional rules and roles, and allow for play, exploration, and the touch of humanity.

This is event is free and open for anyone who is brave enough to engage with disruptive educational innovation. Sessions will take place in Rotterdam. CTRL+N is part of the Erasmus Honours Programme ‘Grand Challenges’.

Stepping Stones to Migrant Conviviality in Rotterdam

How can education be rebuilt to ensure a better future for migrants? Currently, migrants in Rotterdam face harsh realities that marginalize them from integration and conviviality. Conviviality entails harmonious living with oneself and one's surroundings. In our Teach-In, we will explore activities to re-envision and redesign a more convivial Rotterdam, through the lens of education. Each activity will serve as a “stepping stone” to build bridges between the present and future of migration in education.

Rethinking The Rat-Race

The majority of our global society is stuck in a rat race: a relentless and self-defeating pursuit for more money, power and productivity. As the world is confronted with more grand challenges and planetary boundaries are transgressed, it is time to rethink this system. One of these challenges with regard to the rat race is the mental health crisis in the form of rising anxiety and depression in our generation.  In this Teach-In we will zoom out together and reconsider a never-ending cycle of working and earning by placing the rat race in a broader context. Join us on an exciting and challenging treasure hunt that puts us right in the middle of the rat race and exposes the effects on our mental wellbeing

Less is Not More – Introducing Sleep

Do you have a job? A social life? A partner? Good grades? A fit body? 8 hours of sleep? Probably not all of them. Today’s society has the misconception that less sleep equals more. Roughly two-thirds of adults sleep less than 8 hours a day - the WHO speaks of a “global pandemic of sleeplessness”. Our Teach-In offers an explorative experience of sleep, where you will be able to take a nap and learn about sleep on a global level. Together we can dream (of) the future.

Let’s pop the Filter Bubble

The use of social media seems to have backfired. Even though it has never been easier to make contacts and cherish our relationships thanks to these digital channels, our society remains segregated, resulting in an alarmingly rising number of hate crimes. It’s time to change this! As part of this Teach-In besides exploring the mechanism behind filter bubbles, you will have a chance to design your own social media platform that promotes social inclusion. #seeyouthere
