About our name
sjoch bûten, it brûst dêroer
<look outside, the storm is coming>
Brûs refers to various things. First and foremost: Brûs is a Frisian word, loosely translating to foaming, effervescence or boisterous. It is generally associated with storms. Think of the rumble of thunder, the refreshing gust of wind that comes out of a summer storm on a hot and humid day, mid July. You will feel the electricity in the air – and that is the feeling of Brûs. The feeling of excitement. Foam starts to form on the sea. You rush outside to feel the first raindrop land on your face, and you know: you’ve got a big storm coming.
